What is UNetbootin
UNetbootin is a simple program which can run on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X to burn any ISO file directly into USB flash drive. UNetbootin can create a bootable Live USB drive/ It loads distributions either by downloading a ISO (CD image) files for you, or by using an ISO file you’ve already downloaded.

How to Install UNetbootin on Linux Mint
In order to install UNetbootin on your Linux system, you need to add PPA. Press Ctrl + Alt + T to open Linux Terminal then type following command (enter line by line):
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gezakovacs/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install unetbootin
Wait until installation completed! Now you can open UNetbootin after install by clicking Start Menu >> Administration >> UNetbootin. You will be prompted for password.
Ways to Burn ISO File to USB Drive
You need to download ISO file that you want to burn to complete these step. Here is simple step to burn Windows or Linux ISO file into USB flash drive using UNetbootin (please see image above for detail):
- Please make sure you have ISO file to burn. Open your UNetbootin program, Select Disk Image
- Select the ISO File from drop down, this is mean that you will burn the ISO file type
- Click the “browse” button to locate your ISO file
- Click USB Drive for the type, which is mean you will burn the ISO file into USB drive
- On the Drive option, it will auto detect and show your USB drive. Select your USB media from here
- To begin burning process, click OK button. This will take some time to complete, depend on your computer speed.
